Lisa Macri
Meet

Lisa Macri has been teaching art to children in Chicago Public Schools since 2007. She grew up on the North Side of Chicago attending Chicago Public Schools herself, and her passion for children’s art education began at the Old Town School of Folk Music where she taught beginning visual art and comics drawing classes to kids. After she was bitten by the art teaching “bug”, Mrs. Macri knew she had to continue her own education and reach more children. She attended both Columbia College and the American Academy of Art for her fine arts training. She then completed a Masters in Teaching Language Arts (MA) in Elementary School at Northeastern Illinois University. Mrs. Macri is married with two sons, both in Chicago Public Schools, and their family pets are a guinea pig named Bubbles and a beta fish named Red. Outside of teaching, Lisa plays bass guitar in a "mom band” and continues to create her own visual art and paintings with occasional exhibits of her work appearing in solo and group art shows around Chicago and Three Oaks, Michigan.
