1st Quarter: Drawing from Life-Who We Are? Inspiration is Modigliani's Portraits
Self-Portrait Activities-There are many ways that we can approach creating a self-portrait.
1. Drawing the face using drawing instruction: 
2. Stylizing the portrait based on the style of Modigliani.
3. Object Identity connected to ourselves
4. Collage of images.

Designing their portraits! Learn about how we identify your emotions in your face.

Latin American Art Unit of Inquiry: How Do We Express Ourselves? The traditions of telling stories of characters through masks.
1. Designing your mask that represents an empowering feeling.
2. Choosing patterns, textures and colors for your mask.
​3. Completing the mask with materials provided from paper plates to paper mache.

Activities in Art that are inspired cultural celebrations from around the world. Winter Holidays that are celebrated around the world.

1st Quarter: Drawing from Life-Who We Are? Inspiration is Frida Kahlo's Self-Portraits
Self-Portrait Activities-There are many ways that we can approach creating a self-portrait.
1. Drawing the face using drawing instruction: 
2. Using objects from around the household to create the face-includes everything from towels, blankets, recyclables, fruits, vegetables, plants...
3. Object Identity connected to ourselves
4. Collage of images.

Designing their portraits! Learn about what we identify as a comfort in our place around our environment can be drawn into our pictures.

3rd Quarter: Drawing from Life-Square 1 Art and Our Women Artists who Inspire Us: Faith Ringgold and Bisa Butler
Mixed Media Art and Choice of Creating your Art through Exploration of your materials after you created your design.

End of Year: Create your own time capsule. Watch the video with Mrs. Macri and Bubbles her art assistant. See their model time capsule after 30 years! Reflect on your year and place items into your own decorated container (box, jar or bottle) that you feel will help you remember this challenging year. Don't open for 10 years!
Wednesday, May 27 - June 9: Design a poster with a message. Watch the video with Mrs. Macri and her art assistant, Bubbles as they give instruction on how to draw an owl holding a sign with an important message of activism. Think about what your message will be. Black Lives Matter! Be Safe and Be Well!

Wednesday, May 20-26: Create your own Household Monumental Sculpture inspired by our current Chicago artist, ​Alberto Aguilar's domestic sculptures. Be inspired to create a sculpture with your own household items! Let's stick to the idea of home in this art project. What does home mean to you? Arrange your household items into a monument sculpture around this question. Express yourselves in this different way! Wednesday, May 13-19: Origami: The Art of Folding Paper! Create your own origami animals. Mrs. Macri and Bubbles share their origami creations in this video.

Here is a link to Ellagami: An Ogden student created these origami instruction videos for various items such as flowers, butterflies and boxes.
Wednesday, May 6-May 12: Create characters of different emotions. Mrs. Macri shares how color can tell us the mood of a picture.

Wednesday, April 29-May 5: Create a portrait using fruits and veggies. Mrs. Macri and her art assistant, Bubbles demonstrate using their favorite fruits and veggies to make fun faces on their plate. ​https://youtu.be/CuozjY-t6kM
Wednesday, April 22-24: Learn about the warm and cool colors from Mrs. Macri in a slide show presentation. Bubbles, the art assistant discovers something in the backyard. Make a spring flower with a paper towel and other materials. See video with Ms. Cheng Laoshi.
